‘Thunder patrol’ (‘Thunder force’ in its original version) is the name of the new Netflix movie called to be liked by all fans of science fiction, comedies or superheroes. Starring two actresses who are also called to record their names in entertainment history, Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, it tells the story of two friends who become superheroines in a world of villains.
hunder Patrol ‘Thunder Patrol’ tells us how cosmic rays create superhumans, something like what happened to the Fantastic 4 or how it happened in ‘Heroes’. In this case, the problem is that practically all those with powers are given to use their new abilities for evil, that is why they are called "thugs". In that world where going out is a constant danger live those two friends who by chance meet again to fight crime.Related stories: Shiva Baby (2020) / Крошка Шива
Reinventing the superhero genre has already been tried a few times in the movies. Take it as a joke too ('Mystetry Men', 'Blankman', 'Hancock'). In the same way that the impact that encountering superpowers has on a normal person has almost always been explored, whether in the style of 'Spider-Man', 'Shazam!' Or 'Chronicle'. And of course, we have also seen what happens if we side with the villains or the antiheroes as well (‘Gru’, ‘Suicide Squad’).
In the case of ‘Thunder Force’ comedy is used, keeping the Falcone / McCarthy formula. Like any comedian does, the couple adapt their codes to a cinema that already has its own genre, such as superheroes. If when we see José Mota doing his sketches we usually say that of "he is himself imitating another, but it shows that he is him" with McCarthy the same thing happens to us. She does the usual, being foul-mouthed and sarcastic, and this time her comedic vision works very well, especially when she confronts her with the ways of Spencer's character.Related stories: The Dry (2020) / Сухой
There are already several films that the actor and director Ben Falcone and the actress Melissa McCarthy have shot together. The marriage has proven to be good friends with both Falcone acting and directing. We were able to see it recently in 'Superintelligence', where they hugged us with a film loaded with optimism. In ‘Thunder Patrol’ they get the same and it’s thanks to the fact that they once again apologize for a charming stupidity. With their goofy gags, which don't stop throughout the movie, they cheer you up for the day.
Thunder Patrol The film does not need to parody any specific superhero to develop and has very good shots from the moment the protagonists appear as girls, very well chosen in the casting by the way. When you talk about superheroes, you don't think of rickety or meaty characters. Kick-Ass broke a spear in favor of breaking with the stereotype of sculptural bodies and in comics superheroines such as Faith (Valiant Comics) is gaining more and more followers every day. Curiously, McCarthy wears a Van Halen shirt with the Kicks Ass letters very large. What I mean is that you don't have to be an athlete to be a superhero and although that is not the moral of the film, only with having carried it out its two main actresses prove it.
In contrast, we find that Pom Klementieff who already played Mantis, the alien with telepathic powers in 'Guardians of the Galaxy', acts as a villain. She is one of those thugs and with her good figure she represents the bad guys, also indicating that the bad guys don't always have to be ugly. Although we also have the role of Jason Bateman as a monstrous guy with crab hands a la Zoidberg, an absurdity only on a par with 'Doom Patrol'.
